TORN

photographs of torn street posters by Jan Isachsen

Jan was passionate about photography, all photography, but especially street photography. He loved to walk the city streets capturing people going about their everyday activities, always with an eye for the unpredictable. Jan loved the grittiness of cities, the political undertones, and the edginess of parades and protests. He found inspiration in graffiti, decay and disorder. Jan saw art in the fragments and details left behind by torn and weathered posters – layers upon layers of paper that create unpredictable collusions of images, colors and text.

At the age of 61, Jan was torn from life all too early. This photography exhibition is but a fragment of the images he left behind.
